Bleeding. Blood is usually a carefully balanced blend of red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. When something goes wrong and your body starts making too many white blood cells, it may have diminished levels of the other components it needs. Decreased platelet counts is particularly concerning because platelets are used to block up any broken blood vessels and keep blood from leaking out. Without enough platelets, minor scratches can bleed freely for an abnormally long amount of time. Bleeding randomly, such as getting a nosebleed or having your gums bleed after you brush your teeth, is also part of this symptom. If a person is injured in any way, there is a concern that they may end up with uncontrollable internal bleeding.
