Weight loss. Weight loss should be expected if a person is sick and does not have much of an appetite. However, it is a cause for concern when a person is eating normally but still continues to lose weight. If you suspect you have this symptom, try tracking your calories for a few weeks and seeing if you are eating enough calories to maintain your current weight. This symptom is more common in people dealing with elevated white blood cell counts due to cancer, but it can happen in other forms of high white blood cell levels too. The reason that having too many white blood cells cells results in weight loss is because the body is using up too much of its energy supply to create unneeded white blood cells.
