Hamstring Injuries From Symptoms to Treatment

Symptoms. Pain is most certainly a major symptom, but the level of pain depends on the severity of the injury. The intensity of the pain can range from mild to agonizing. Some people may experience only mild discomfort, while others may not be able to walk, stand, or even put any pressure on the leg. One might even feel a tearing sensation in the muscle during a very serious injury. Other possible symptoms include muscle weakness, tenderness, discomfort, bruising, discoloration on the back of the leg, and sudden intense pain while exercising. It’s also likely the pain is felt while feeling a popping or snap feeling in the muscle. Pain in the back of the thigh and lower region of the buttocks when straightening out the leg, walking, or bending over is also common. Tenderness and swelling usually begin within about three hours after the initial injury.
