The Types of Penile Cancer With Their Symptoms and Treatment

Treatment. Cancer treatment can be tricky. There are several different things that can be done to try to detect and eliminate all the cancer cells. There are medicinal topical creams that go on the skin. A patient can try cryotherapy which uses extremely cold liquid to freeze the cancer cells, so they will die. Another procedure is a Mohs surgery which is done by removing the cancerous skin one layer at a time. The doctor continues to remove layers until normal, healthy tissue is found. Lasers can be used to cut out and destroy areas that have cancer cells. Circumcision might be an approach if the man did not have this done earlier in life. It involves removing the foreskin from the penis. This should, of course, only be performed if this is where the cancer is located. If the cancer has spread, they may need to remove the inguinal lymph nodes or perform a penectomy where some or all of the penis is removed. Either in conjunction with or separately, radiation and chemotherapy can be used to rid the body of cancer cells by using medicines to pinpoint an area, or a general area.
