This operating room has special imaging machines (and x-ray machines) not found elsewhere in most operating rooms. Sedation is rare for cardiac catheterization. It’s most commonly used when cardiac catheterization isn’t exploratory, but is part of another procedure.
Like many operations, people will have electrodes placed on their chest because the heart needs to be monitored. An IV will provide medications and fluids during the operation. The catheter site will end up shaved. After a shot to ensure that pain is minimized, the catheter will be inserted. From there, the process is entirely dependent on the purpose of the cardiac catheterization.
